Roots Americana Tunes This Sunday At Six
With a captivating voice that brings to mind vocalists from Patsy Cline and Billy Holiday to Neko Case, Shannon Whitworth has attracted nationwide attention with her roots acoustic Americana country music. Whitworth brings her all-star band to Cole Park on Sun., July 19 at 6pm in the next of the Alamosa Live Music Association’s Sundays@Six series of free admission concerts.
Pure, strong, and heartfelt, Whitworth catches the ears and touches the hearts of even the most unsuspecting bystander. Currently living in the mountains of western North Carolina, Whitworth has spent the last ten years focusing on mountain, bluegrass and country music and songwriter. The series concludes Sun., July 26 at 6pm as the Brent Berry Band combines folk, reggae, bluegrass, blues and Latin music into a copious buffet for the ears, made by a nontraditional instrumental line-up of kick drum; mandolin; percussion; bass; and classical guitar. The San Luis Valley Brewing Co. is scheduled to sell food and drink at that show. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will take place in Leon Memorial Hall on the Adams State College campus. ALMA’s gracious members and business sponsors support the free summer “Sundays @ Six,” concerts and other ALMA events.
