With nearly 15,000 acres under the microscope to determine its suitability for commercial-scale solar development, Conejos County could bear the brunt of the Bureau of Land Management's efforts to harness the sun in the San Luis Valley. Tuesday, the Conejos County commissioners quizzed agency officials about the June designation that tabbed 9,600 acres southeast of Antonito and 5,900 acres west of Romeo. Their concerns ranged from the type of solar technologies that could be used to the effect of the designation on the payment in lieu of taxes program.
